How to Be a Monstrance, Atlanta Eucharistic Conference 2019

Have you prayed and prayed about, and worked and worked on a situation, but it has not changed in the least? Could it be because you are operating in your flesh, rather than in the Spirit? What does the Holy Spirit want to do?

Here’s a little different treat: my talk from this year’s Archdiocese of Atlanta’s Eucharistic Congress.

Thank you to my newest Friends of the Show, Janet L; Patricia H; Lindsay B; Lisa P; Christina S; Gail & Chuck D; Shawn S; Shelley M; and Janette S, for loving and lifting me!

Bible Study Evangelista is on the Laudate app!

LOVE the Word® is a Bible study method based on Mary’s own practice: lectio without the Latin.

L – Listen (Receive the Word.)

O – Observe (Choose one or more of the following personality approaches to connect the passage to your life and recent events.)

Every FIAT temperament gets the same Observe step this week:

In what relationship or circumstance have you been relying solely on your own understanding rather than seeking God’s will? How can LOVE the Word help you discern God’s guidance?

V – Verbalize (Pray about your thoughts and emotions.)

Remembering that He loves you and that you are in His presence, talk to God about the particulars of your O – Observe step. You may want to write your reflections in your LOVE the Word® journal. Or, get a free journal page and guide in the right-hand margin.

E – Entrust (May it be done to me according to your word!)

Jesus, I trust in You! + Amen.

*LOVE the Word® exercises are offered according to FIAT: the four personalities, or “prayer forms,” explored in Prayer and Temperament, by Chester Michael and Marie Norrisey: Franciscan, Ignatian, Augustinian, and Thomistic: FIAT! These prayer forms correspond to the Myers-Briggs personality types.

  1. Thank YOU for this gift!! Towards the end, when you speak of why some prayers haven’t been answered because we are try to do it the way of the flesh..!!! Bingo!!! Oh, yes, the Lord went “HELLO”!!! 😆. Thank you for listening to God💗

  2. That was so great! It’s one thing to read your explanations, or even to hear them, but to see and hear them, then it sinks in but good! Thank you for sharing this with us.

  3. Oh Dear One!
I’ve read and heard and practiced this message, but tonight there are tears. Life’s circumstances change constantly, and so I needed to hear this anew. Thank you once again for your generous love for us in prayer and sharing God’s work in your life. I’ve such a long way to go; it’s good to be reminded that I’m not alone on this journey. God bless you always.

  4. Oh,Sonja!🌷 You speak the Truth to my heart. This podcast had me giggling in some parts and tearing up in others. It was just what I needed to get me motivated and committed to L.O.V.E. the Word for the next 40 days. Thank YOU for being a Monstrance!

  5. Sonja, thank you so much! What a message- so much wisdom and truth! I’m going to try the LOVE the Word for 40 days for a problem that never seems to get solved. I’m so grateful for you. I hope to meet you in person one day! It was great to hear you quote Joyce Meyer too! I sometimes think God sent you to us in the Catholic Church because we need our own version of a Joyce Meyer! Well God surely delivers because you are being used mightily by the Lord in the Church at this critical time in history. You’re so down to earth and your heart is open and sharing all God has brought you through personally. Thank you and love you!

  6. I so needed to hear this again. I am going to use your L.O.V.E for the next 40days. I have your Journal and have it autograph by you when I had the opportunity to meet you about a year & 1/2 ago in Texas at Good Shepherd. I have not used it because its so beautiful. But I need to use it for what it is for😳😊. I also got your book How to pray like Mary. I keep wanted someone to do it with me ( read the book together ) but for whatever reason I cant keep a friend long enough to get to that point. I will just go at it with Mary & Jesus and me. Once again thank you and your ministry. God bless you & your family 😇

    Your sister in Christ,
    Sandra Escobar
